Weaving Magic
Creating your DIY mirror macramé craft can be an enjoyable and rewarding experience. By following these simple steps, you’ll be able to create a stunning DIY mirror project that will become the focal point of any room.
Materials You’ll Need:
- Circular mirror (choose the size that best suits your space)
- Macramé cord (pick a color that complements your interior)
- Paper plate
- Scissors
- Measuring tape
- Hot glue gun
- Comb
DIY Mirror Macramé Instructions:
1.Preparing the Mirror: First thing, begin by cleaning the mirror surface with plain mirror glass spray thoroughly to ensure optimal adhesion of the macramé hoop.
This will help guarantee a flawless finished product. You can find a new mirror at your local craft store and even the dollar store for this project. Gather all your supplies.
2.Trace the size of the mirror onto the paper plate or cardboard, depending on the size of your mirror to create a hoop to attached the macramé cords to.
3.Measuring and Cutting the Macramé Cord: Measure the circumference of the mirror and cut the macramé cords to your desired length or about 6 inches long. These cords will serve as the base for your macramé design.
4.Creating the Knots: I used a reverse lark’s head knot to create this look. To make this knot, fold your cord in half, place loop behind the paper plate, fold the loop over the paper plate then pull the cords thought the loop and tighten the cords.
Do this until you have covered the entire circle. Explore various macramé knotting techniques such as the square knot, half square knot, or the double half hitch.
Play with different patterns, alternating knots to create texture and depth. Experimentation is key to designing a mirror macramé that reflects your personal style.
5.Once you’re done knotting your cords, attached the mirror at the back of the macramé hoop by using hot glue on the outer edge of the mirror back.
6.Final step: Once you’ve completed your macramé design, trim any excess cord and comb through the knots to give them a neat, polished look.
